The Jungle Run is the only night-time high school cross country race in North Carolina. Cost is $60 for a single sex team or $100 for both men and women. The
first 25 high schools are guaranteed entry. This year's meet will consist of five total races: High School Championship Races for men and women (large schools and top smaller schools). Men's and women's Developmental Races for smaller schools and B-Teams from larger schools. This year we are adding a 1 mile run for middle school and elementary aged invidividuals. We were originally going to have a 3000 meter race for middle schoolers, but several requested to run the mile. So, for this year it will be a mile only. The cost for the middle and elementary race will be $5 dollars on the deadline and $10 on race day. No athletes who have a team competing on race day and no NCHSAA athletes may compete in the children's race. For more information please email South View Coach Jesse L. Autry at

5 K.
Last year we had 21 schools and raised $14,000 to renovate the
running trail at the park.
We would like to make this a free open invitational. We will have the
park open at 2:30 with the first race at 4:00 PM. As of right now we
have about 15 schools coming and would like to have many more to come
and run on this new 5 K trail. We will be dedicating the trail on that day in memory of Robert "Bo" Thompson a Viking Runner who was killed in a car
accident last fall. Please register by September 15th, so we can plan
on the final numbers. Schools will be receiving a race schedule for
the day of races after we get the final numbers. We would just like to
have as many teams as possible to come together and celebrate a day of
running.

This event is an excellent tune-up for Footlocker South that has gotten better and faster each year. 7:00 p.m. Location: Cardinal Gibbons High School, 1401 Edwards Mill Rd. Raleigh, NC 27607. All races will be run under the lights on a synthetic track. Event: All races will be 3200 meters. The race is a perfect way to prepare for the fast course at Footlocker Regionals. Last year there were over 100 runners and 20 guys ran 10 minutes or faster while seven girls ran under 12 minutes. There will be as many heats as possible and we will try to provide pacesetters for the first mile of each race. The Cardinal Gibbons HS parents will provide a free cook-out and potluck after the race. All runners are invited to attend. There are no entry-fees for this event.
