Sat - August 27...Western North Carolina Cross Country Carnival (Jackson Park, Hendersonville, NC)
Site of the 2005 NCISAA State Championships and NCHSAA West 3-A Regional. Registration is now open via Direct Athletics (www.directathletics.com). Please contact Coach Steve Carpenter at Sdcxc@aol.com to be placed on the accepted team list. We will take 50 teams. There are currently (as of 7/21/05) 41 teams on the list. Sat - August 27...4th Annual Sunbelt Rentals Jungle Run (South View HS, Hope Mills, NC)
This is an evening event with the Championship Level Races being held under the lights and finishing in the football stadium. To get on the mailing list, Coaches should email Jesse Autry at svxc@hotmail.com. The first 25 teams are guaranteed entry.

Thur - Sept 1...16th Annual West Henderson Invitational (Rugby Middle School, Hendersonville, NC)
No Entry Fee. Awards are given for the team champion in each division as well as a runnerup award for each division. Medals are given ten deep in all divisions. Middle School Boys: 4:15 PM, Middle School Girls 4:20 PM, High School Boys 5:00 PM, High School Girls 5:30 PM. We can accept up to 50 teams. It has always been one of the larger meets of the year. Thur - Sept 1...4rd Annual Greyhound Relays /Record & Landmark (MacAnderson Park, Statesville, NC)
4:15 PM. Each team will consist of 5 runners each running 1 mile each with a baton. There will be 4 races in all including Men's "A" and "B/C" races and Women's "A" and "B/C" races. All runners on your team can participate. Awards will consist of top team awards as well as individual engraved medals. Entry fee $15 per school. Sat - Sept 3...22nd Annual Eye Opener Cross Country Meet (Roger Milliken Center, Spartanburg, SC)
The format will be identical to last year with the collegiate races beginning at 8:00 (Women 5K) and 8:15 (Men 8K). The scholastic races will begin at 9:00 (Boys JV), 9:45 (Girls), and 10:30 (Boys Varsity). Waste Management of South Carolina will once again be our sponsor. There will be no entry fee for high school teams. The Radisson Hotel & Suites (864-574-2111) is offering a $59 room rate (up to four/room). Rooms are available in "standard double queen" or "king suites". Reservations must be made by August 22 to receive this special rate. Ask for the SCSDB Eye Opener Meet rate. Sat Sept 3...The 2nd Annual Patriot Cross Country Run (Southern Pines Elks Lodge, Southern Pines, NC)
Host: Pinecrest High School. The course is a 5K run, rolling golf course. A team will be limited to 10 runners. Scoring: The top 5 will score. The 6th and 7th will be placeholders. The 8th through the 10th runners will be pulled for team scoring. Cost is $50 for a single team or $80 for both, mens and womens team. Schedule: Championship Boys 10:00 am, Championship Girls 10:45, Development Race 11:45 Awards: Top 2 teams in both championship races. Top 20 individuals in each Varsity race. The top 10 boys and girls in the developmental race. The races will be limited to the first 14 teams. Team rosters are due by Monday, Sept. 29th. Course is located on campus and offers a variety of running surfaces (grass, dirt, sand, and one small stretch of asphalt). Entry fee $40.00 per team. Men and Women are two separate teams. Sat - Sept 10...19th Annual Seahawk Cross Country Invitational (UNC-Wilmington, Wilmington, NC)
With several improvements planned, the course promises to be even faster than in the past. We will also have an improved timing system to make for more efficient results and awards. Team and individual awards will continue to be improved upon as well. There will once again be 6 races with the top 20-25 teams competing in the Championship races and the rest of the complete teams competing in the Varsity races. Championship teams will be selected based on the previous season and pre-season polls. UNCW will decide and inform you of which race you have been placed in advance of race day. Everyone is welcome to come and run. NO ENTRY FEE. Medals will be given to the top ten in the high school races and top three in the middle school races. Plaques will go the the top two teams in high school and middle schools. The middle school girls race will start at 4:15 pm and the middle school boys will start at 4:25 pm. High school boys will race at 5:00pm and the high school girls will start at 5:30 pm. Course is 3.1 with no repeats, a runners course. 8:00 AM Course walk. 9:00 Middle School Boys (3K). 9:30 Middle School Girls (3K). 10:00 Varsity Boys. 10:30 Varsity Girls. 11:00 Open Boys. 11:30 Open Girls. Medals to the top 5 in each race. Trophies to top boys and girls varsity teams. We are looking for 2 or 3 more high schools and 4 or 5 more middle schools to fill the entries. Course is a difficult 5K through the woods, some fields, and a little pavement. Begins and ends in the stadium and a great course for spectators. Middle school fee is $20. High schools $40. The UNOFFICIAL JV State Championships. 9th and 10th grade athletes only. Note: Athletes in 7th and 8th grade who are allowed to compete for their high school varsity teams will also be allowed to participate. 12:00 PM Boys Race, 12:45 PM Girls Race, 1:30 PM Awards Ceremony. Tue - Oct 11...Buncombe County Sports Park Enka Classic (Buncombe Co. Sports Park in Enka-Candler)
The course should be a super fast 2 mile race around the facility & soccer fields. The races will still go by class w/Freshman 1st, followed by soph, jr, seniors classes. Men & women will run together. The meet will start at 4pm w/races starting about every 30 minutes. Directions:From Asheville take I-40 West. Exit at the Enka-Candler Exit. At the end of ramp take a right. Go through next light just before McDonald's. Turn right onto Acton Circle. Go to 4-way stop and take a left on to Sand-Hill School Road. Sat - Oct 15...Sandhills Invitational (Columbia, SC)
The meet is being run by Spring Valley High School - the hosts of the Taco Bell Track & Field Classic. Meet management will be the same for both events and information is at www.svh.richland2.org/~tbell. There is no entry fee. The meet site is the SC State Meet course (only 1.5 miles from SV High). It is a very fast 3.07 mile grass course with 400m in the woods and around a lake and has one hill. The 1st and 3rd miles are the same which allows coaches to see their athletes 6-7 times with ease. The meet is sanctioned for SC, NC and GA.

Fri - Nov 18... Raleigh Track Club 3200-meter Invitational (Cardinal Gibbons HS, Raleigh)
The event is an excellent tune-up for Footlocker South that has gotten better and faster each year. 7:00 p.m. Location: Cardinal Gibbons High School, 1401 Edwards Mill Rd. Raleigh, NC 27607. All races will be run under the lights on a synthetic track. Event: All races will be 3200 meters. The race is a perfect way to prepare for the fast course at Footlocker Regionals. Last years' winning time was 9:03; there were 14 boys under 10 minutes. Photos of 2004 event. There will be a fast heat for boys and the girls (if necessary). We will provide pacesetters for the first mile at the following paces: 4:30, 4:40, 4:50 and 5:00 for the boys and 5:30, 5:40 and 6:00 for the girls. Food: The Cardinal Gibbons HS parents will provide a free cook-out and potluck after the race. All runners are invited to attend. Entry Fees: There are no entry-fees for this event. Sat - Nov 19...Watauga Cross (Watauga Swim Complex, Boone, NC)
9:00 AM. 5K cross country race and 2K fun run. This is a good Pre-Footlocker race. Course is not overly hard. Consists of grass, asphalt, and trails. Woods a lot like the woods at Tanglewood. Sponsored by: Mast General Store, Andrea McDonough State Farm Insurance, and Watauga HS Cross Country. Awards: 1st place overall male and female trophy and $50 gift certificate to Mast Store. 2nd and 3rd overall get a trophy. Medals to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in these age groups: 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & up. All runners will receive a t-shirt. Entry: $15 for general runners; $10 for college and high school CC runners; $20 on day of race. $5 for fun run. Checks made out to Watauga High School. Send to: Randy McDonough 177 Windwalker Ct. Boone NC 28607. Directions: From Wilkesboro/Winston-Salem: Follow 421 into Boone. After entering the city limits go to the 4th light and turn left. From Lenoir/Hickory: Follow 321 into Boone. At the 1st traffic light you come to turn right. Go to the 2nd light and turn left onto State Farm Road. Turn right at the fire department. The next left you come to is the parking lot for the swim complex. From Avery Co./Marion/Asheville: Take 105 into Boone. At the Wendy’s intersection turn right. At the 3rd light turn left (Burger King). Turn right at the next light. Turn left at the fire department. Turn left into the swim complex.
