In keeping with the standard set by Track and Field News, we recognize marks achieved during the high school indoor track season and other post-season indoor meets.
To convert from hand time to FAT (Fully Automatic Timing), we use the standard 0.14 for 400 meters and 0.24 for 55 meters, 200 meters, 300 meters, and 55 meter hurdles.
To convert yards to meters, Track and Field News and The High School Yearbook use .994194 multiplied by the yard performance in seconds for all events. We chose these formulas, as well. In most cases, the formula equals the standard conversion.
(We did not convert 300 yards to 300 meters and 600 yards to 500 meters or 3,000 meters to 3,200 meters because of the variance in distance and because the longer of the distances were not run).
