Saturday - February 25, 2012 -- 4th Annual Wildcat Throwers Camp -- Guy Phillips Middle School, Chapel Hill
(A camp focused on the fundamentals of the high school shot put and discus throw). 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Note location change effective 2/22: Guy Phillips Middle School, 606 North Estes Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514).
The event is open to all high school track athletes and coaches. Fee: $10 per athlete, no charge for coaches and parents. This is our 4th annual camp focusing on teaching the fundamentals of the shot put and discus throw. Camp is design for all level of throwers, from the beginner to advanced, and we will cover the power-throw, disc spin, shot spin and the shot glide as well as various drills and techniques. We are pleased to announced that Coach Jeff Gorski, a national level throws coach, will be at the camp to work with the athletes. At the conclusion of the camp, we will have a throws-only practice-meet. Saturday - Sunday, June 9-10, 2012 - Big Cat Summer Shot Put and Discus Clinic -- East Chapel Hill High School, Chapel Hill
In response to multiple requests, Coach Jason Reese (throws coach of East Chapel Hill High School) and Coach Jeff Gorski (a national level throws coach) will be holding another clinic for shot and discus athletes. With this camp 2-day camp we will provide the athlete with a more intensive and in-depth experience as well as increased individual coaching. The camp is designed for all level of throwers, from the beginner to advanced, and we will cover the power-throw, rotational throw and the glide as well as various drills and techniques. The clinic will include a video review session to break down each athlete's technique and to provide individualized training points. For athletes looking to compete in the Nationals, this would be a great tune-up. Fee: $60 per athlete (early registration). Sunday - Wednesday June 10-13, 2012 -- Wolfpack Speed Dynamic Camp (NC State University, Raleigh)
The camp will be hosted by Chris Coleman, assistant coach for NC State University. Hurdle instruction will be conducted by Terry Reese, a former world-ranked athlete in the hurdles. We invite you to attend this 4-day exploration so that you will gain a better understanding jumping, sprinting and hurdling. Also includes speed development drills for baseball, softball, soccer and football. The cost is $300 for overnight campers and $240 for day campers. June 11-13 & July 5-8 & July 13-15 -- Summer Track & Field Camps at UNC Chapel Hill Campus
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM with Coach Davian Clarke, Sprint, Hurdle & Relay Coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels. We will be holding sessions for all youths, ages 8-18, they will be taught proper running mechanics, mobility, flexibility, speed development, and speed endurance techniques. Monday-Friday - June 18-22, 2012 -- Charlotte Latin School Pole Vault Camp
Time: 9am-12:00pm. Map. Charlotte Latin School Pole Vault Camp is designed to teach students the proper skills and techniques necessary to learn to the sport of pole vaulting with an emphasis on each of the following areas: safety, goal-setting, fitness and sportsmanship. The camp is open to all students ages 12 and older, as well as to all ability levels including those who have never vaulted before. The five day session will teach students proper pole vault technique, drills, training, how to prepare a competitive event, equipment selection, mental aspects and video analysis. Campers will need to bring a vaulting pole, running shoes, track spikes, sun screen and dress appropriately for outdoor activity. Price: $170.00. July 25-29, 2012 -- The Duke Running Camp -- Duke University, Durham, NC
