Saturday - April 14, 2012 ... The South View/Smithfield-Selma "Let the Kids Run" Invite (Smithfield-Selma HS, Smithfield, NC)
Location: 700 Booker-Dairy Rd. Smithfield, NC 27577. Hosted by Smithfield-Selma HS and Southview HS. With limited facilites in Cumberland Country and all the bad weather on weekends, many of our athletes are not getting an opportunity to compete. This meet will create a situation where all your kids can participate, while getting in some good competition. We are not limiting entries, although on NCRunners.com (where ww will enter our athletes) the director has to put in place some sort of numberical limit. I picked the number 20. Let me know, via email, if you need to make more entries than that. We will be handling entries through NCRunners.com. I expect the entries to open sometime this weekend. We are admitting the first eight schools. After that, it will depend on how many athletes have been entered. If the meet fills up in the first hour, I will close the entry process. So, please, act quickly. I know several of us will be on Spring Break and some of our athletes may not be available. But whether you have 10 kids or 110 kids, let's have a meet. Let's have a meet without a whole lot of county/conference imposed regulations and limitations. Let's let the kids run. We are asking you to be as accurate as possible when entering athletes. Try to make sure they are going to be present. If you are not sure, enter them anyway. If you know they will not be there, please do not enter them. If you are unsure and enter them and find out later they cannot attend, please edit them out of your entries. After the deadine passes, I will send out an email asking for last minute scratches. Please enter realistic times and marks when entering your athletes. Even though entries are not due until next week, please go ahead and reserve your team's spot by emailing me of your intent to participate. Also, indicate which field event you are most interested in helping with. Smithfield-Selma has a six-lane rubber track. If you have questions concerning the facilities, please direct them to Christopher Bradshaw at ChristopherBradshaw@johnston.k12.nc.us. Questions concerning the entries should be directed to me at coachjesseautry@yahoo.com. There will be no entry fees, no awards, and we are asking that each school work a field event and help time. Each team may bring as many athletes as they wish. As such we're going to limit this to about 8 teams, give or take a couple, depending on how many each team decides to bring.
