Online entries for the NSSF's Great American Cross-Country Festival (GACC) are pouring in and we expect an escalation in both numbers and competition for the October 1-2 event. The GACC offers a unique experience of exciting cross-country competition amid a festival atmospher complete with clowns, music, face painters, stilt walkers and other entertainment. As one of the season's earliest premier cross-country events, the GACC is an excellent testing ground for runners at both the collegiate and high school levels.
Highlight races this year will be the Race of Champions. Saratoga girls and Brookwood boys took top honors in the high school division last year, while Duke and the University of Maryland won the college division.
The Shumake Family Foundation Historically Black College and University Challenge returns with high expectations that well over two dozen teams will line up at the start to vie for the Challenge Cup and and take the bragging rights away from last year's double winner, Norfolk State.
Sponsored in part by Nike, the GACC is held on the same course in Cary, NC as the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional Championships and the 2010 NCAA Division II Atlantic Coast Regionals. Many say that this well seasoned course is one of the best in the country!
There are divisions for all athletes: college/university, championship, seeded, varsity, junior varsity, freshman and open.

ESPN RISE 2011 Indoor Schedule

NCHSAA schools:
First day of practice - Monday, November 15, 2010.
Official date of first meet - Wednesday, December 1, 2010.

(From Coach Jeff George, R.J. Reynolds HS)
"The inaugural Polar Bear Grand Prix Series is a set of Saturday meets at Bishop McGuinness HS (Kernersville) with cumulative results and team scores kept throughout the series. We think that having some local options for Saturdays will help out this year, as UNC is not hosting any Saturday meets. Also, it's a lot easier to get good weather from 12-4 in the afternoon than it is after sundown on a school day! We don't expect to replace the weekday polar bears, but perhaps we can be less dependent on them and provide another option. We hope to make this a competitive series every winter!"

Dates: Saturday, 12/18. Saturday, 1/22. Saturday, 1/29. Directions. 8-lane rubberized track. All meets start at noon. All NCHSAA running events will be contested, plus a 4x200 and a distance medley relay. (Order: 4x800, 55H, 55, 4x200, 1600, 500, DMR, 1000, 300, 3200, 4x400.) All NCHSAA field events will be contested, except pole vault. Entry Fee: a one-time fee of $50 per team (including both boys and girls) gets you into any and all of the meets. Unlimited entries in all events! Bring the check (payable to RJ Reynolds HS) to the meet, or mail the check to: RJ Reynolds HS, Attn: Jeff George, 301 N Hawthorne Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. Entries can be emailed to CoachGeorgeRJR@hotmail.com

Scoring and Awards: cumulative results will be kept throughout the series. At the final meet, cumulative individual and team awards will be given. Teams have to attend all meets to be eligible for the team trophies.

Saturday - April 30, 2011 ... 2011 CCDS Buccaneer Classic (Charlotte Country Day School, Charlotte, NC)
This meet will have select individual races along with the mainstay relays and should give schools a great opportunity to race very competitive relays. In addition to the 100m dash, the 400m dash and the 1600m run individual races we are going to offer the 400m IH run, which is typically not run in area High Schools, but is run in colleges, so this could be an opportunity for the top 300mIH runners to see what they can do. We will limit the number of entries in the individual events (100mDash, 400m Dash, 1600m run and 400mIH). We will have a maximum of 16 entries (two heats) for these events. Coaches must send entry times that are verifiable from the 2011 season. (Send verification to Joe Vignolini: joe.vignolini@charlottecountryday.org). For the 400m IH we will use the 300mIH times. All entries in the 1600 must meet the minimum qualifying time of 5:30 for the boys and 6:30 for the girls. Depending upon number of entries teams may be limited to 3 entries per individual event.
The entry fee will be the lesser of $50 per team (boys and girls count separately) or $15 per individual relay team entry and $10 per individual entry.
We will have a maximum of 25 teams participating and we would like to hear back from you with your intent to run by April 1, 2011.
Should we have rain and need to cancel the entire event, we will not be able to reschedule. We will refund entry fees. If we begin the meet and then need to cancel due to rain, we will not be able to reschedule and we will not be able to refund entry fees (as we will still need to pay workers). We will do our best to either conduct the meet or cancel it before we begin.
TO RSVP please send an email by April 1st to Coach Joseph Vignolini @ (joe.vignolini@charlottecountryday.org). Be sure to include team gender (M or F or both), approximate number of athletes.
ALL entries must be done via athletic.net at: QuickReg# T1199204 - Teams may use this number for quick entry into your meet by visiting: http://www.Athletic.net/Wizard/ Or you may use this shortcut link.
Note: the CISAA has a rule that does not allow Middle School (grade 7-8) athletes to compete against/with Upper School athletes. So this meet is only grade 9-12.
